One of the most important parts of your wedding day is your ceremony. This is the time you are completely surrounded by your family and friends to share your love for your person with them. This is one of the most unforgettable moments for everyone, and you want to make sure it is meaningful for you and engaging for your guests too! Today I thought I would share a few ways of how to make your wedding ceremony personalized and even more unforgettable. Have you been thinking about ways to elevate your ceremony for you and your guests? This read is for you!

1. Customized Wedding Vows

One of the most powerful ways to connect with your family and friends and personalize your ceremony is to write your own wedding vows. Not only does it ground you and remind you why you’re getting married, but it helps your guests really get to know you and your love story. Custom wedding vows alway make for a unforgetable day. There won’t be a dry eye in the place. I highly recommend (and beautiful vow booklets or handwritten calligraphy is always a lovely keepsake too)!

2. Professional Officiant

I cannot stress enough how important it is to have professional and experienced officiant to marry you both. There is so much that a ceremony can contain, what to have, what to not have, how to customize it, and a professional officiant knows how to make the program flow seamlessly. There is so much more that goes into being a professional officiant than one would think. There is so much preparation and getting to know you that truly makes for a beutifully written ceremony. Check out my other blog here for more information on What to Know Before Hiring a Wedding Officiant.

3. Specialized Ceremony

Piggy-backing off of my previous point about hiring a professional officiant, another way to make your ceremony special and meaningful is to include a ceremony ritual of some kind. There are so many options: a unity candle, unity group prayer, unity wine pouring, unity sand pouring, tying the knot with ribbon or rope ritual, and so many more traditions that can be included. This is a way to remember your commitment to one another in a more symbolic way.

4. Beautiful Music

Most of the time overlooked and just thrown together last minute, your ceremony music has the potential for greatness and is an amazing way to let your family and friends get to know you even more! Including songs more custom or special to you can ensure such a beautiful memory for everyone.

5. Recessional Toss or Wave

And finally, the icing on the cake! A final way you can celebrate your new marriage is to have some kind of toss or wave as you do your first kiss as husband and wife and as you walk up the aisle together! Some ideas for this are the traditional rice, or leaves (shown below), rose petals, confetti, streamers, or feathers to toss. Or for a wave sparklers are aways a hit, as well as ribbon wands, flags, or bells!
